BFCA Board Role Descriptions

We are seeking a Vice-President Treasurer, and 2-3 Members At Large to contribute to our vibrant community.

President:
The President serves as the chief representative of the BFCA, providing leadership and facilitating strategic direction for the BFCA’s priorities and initiatives. Responsibilities include presiding over meetings, coordinating with the entire board and committee chairs, local officials and community partners, and ensuring the successful implementation of neighborhood activities. The President fosters community engagement and works to strengthen the BFCA’s mission of neighborhood involvement and stewardship.
Vice-President:
The Vice President supports the President in overseeing BFCA activities and assumes leadership responsibilities when needed. This role includes helping to coordinate events, assisting with community outreach efforts, and ensuring that committees have the support necessary to operate effectively. The Vice President plays a crucial role in maintaining the BFCA’s momentum and collaborative spirit and the hope is they will take the role of the President in the next membership year.
Secretary:
The Secretary is responsible for managing the association’s records, including meeting minutes, BFCA website blog posts, and the BFCA email listserve. The Secretary also assists in maintaining membership lists and supporting organizational transparency.
Treasurer:
The Treasurer oversees the financial health of the BFCA, assisting with budget development and management, tracking expenditures, processing BFCA expense reimbursements, and tracking membership dues. Other duties include preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with financial policies. The Treasurer works closely with other BFCA leaders to allocate resources effectively for community initiatives.
Members at Large:
Members at Large provide additional support across various BFCA initiatives. They participate in meetings, assist with event planning and implementation, contribute to committee projects, and offer input on key BFCA decisions. Their flexible role allows them to assist in areas such as new member recruitment, advocacy, and neighborhood engagement.
BFCA bylaws state that the board be: "...composed of not less than three (3) or more than eleven (11) members, each serving a term of three (3) years commencing at the first meeting of the Board of Directors held after June 1 in the year of his/her election..."
The bylaws also state: "…The Directors shall be set so that no more than four (4) members' terms expire each year. A Director may be re-elected to the Board arfter a hiatus of at least one year."
