Brookhaven Fields has experienced many break-ins as of late. Most, if not all, was as a result of carelessness on the part of the owner. Don't make it easy and tempting to break into your vehicle by ensuring nothing is left in the vehicle that will warrant a break-in. Below is a message from Dekalb Police, North Precinct:
TO: All RESIDENTS EVERYWHERE
FROM: DEKALB POLICE NORTH PRECINCT In order to better protect citizens and their property, DeKalb Police encourages all persons who park their vehicles in parking lots, parking deck, in your driveway, in front of your house, and even your garage to remember and DO THE FOLLOWING:
Close and lock all vehicle entry points. Place all valuables out of your car inside of your house. Absolutely leave nothing, nothing in your car. First, Report all suspicious, persons, vehicles and behavior to police by calling 911 at the time when the activity is observed and then contact your NWA coordinator and/or block captain in order to get the word around in the neighborhood. BE ALERT TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS AT ALL TIMES!!
ALERTNESS + COMMUNICATION = SAFETY Al Fowler DeKalb Police North Precinct Community Relations Office: 404-294-2858 Fax: 404-297-3863

Cheryl and I were surprised to find out that Johnny Ward, son of Cheryl’s best friend from College, was in Atlanta. What surprised us even more was his sideline hobby which he hopes will soon become a full-time venture. Welcome to KOG Nation… KOG, short for “Keepers of the Grill” is a very unique and interesting venture which Johnny accidently fell into one night during a camping trip cookout. But the story begins years prior to that fateful night. Rather than spend allot of time explaining it to you, you can read all about it yourself by following this link.
Prior to going out to Maryland earlier this month, Cheryl and I learned that Johnny would be returning to Texas 3 days after our return to Atlanta so we invited him over for dinner last Sunday. Little did we know he was going to treat us to one outstanding BBQ at our home! Johnny brought over ground Bison (Buffalo if you weren’t aware of it), portabella mushrooms, corn and some other things to spice it up. I supplied the wine and watched in simple amazement at this soon-to-be “Pit Master”. Johnny made everything look simple, quick and fun… from food preparation, to grill preparation, to cooking techniques, to the display and presentation. The proof was in the taste! I have never had such perfect tasting corn-on-the-cob, and the burgers were nothing short of “Out of this World” with flavors that make it a sin if you were to add condiments other than lettuce, onion, tomatoes and pickles. Lookout for if you put catsup, mayo and/or mustard on this masterpiece, not only would you never enjoy the delectable and natural flavors, you just might be struck by lightening.
Johnny is in the process of developing a great Texas business which we will not be fortunate to directly benefit from here in Atlanta, but you certainly can become a member of his growing group of followers in “ KOG Nation” even though I want to call it “ KOG Country”. Keep a watch for Johnny Ward (don’t even think of calling him John, or Mr. Ward or even Mr. John… it’s Johnny period) as he builds a new and fun way to entertain your guests at your next cookout. For more information, go to www.keepersofthegrill.com/ and become a Keeper of the Grill yourself. I certainly have… and if you’re a guy remember this: “Keepers always gets the Girl”… that’s how I got Cheryl.

Resident Input: Are You Thirsty? A Very Special Message from Someone You Should Remember
|
|
Do you remember Amanda Brown – the one I told you about “ Are you Playing the Field Right”? Well I just received an email from her… ah yes, we are all so well connected, and below you will find a special message which is sooo perfect for these hot summer evenings. My Friends, I am sending you this e-mail because I know you can help. You being the great people that you are, I know you can help me help our friends at 5 Seasons. They have some of the best food and beer in Atlanta (yes they have other drinks besides beer). They use only the best quality organic ingredients. They support local farmers and their families by getting these ingredients from them. Which if you have eaten there, you know it is so worth it. For over a year now construction on the property next to theirs has made it look like they are not even open. But they are, and they want all of us to come in. We need to go and support the little guy. Right now they need all the help we can give them. Frankie's has all ready closed and we do not want them to be next!! To help assure you will come by and to make sure you send this out to all your friends we have a coupon!! It's for a FREE BEER OR APPETIZER. For a place this good, this is unheard of. So please, let's all swing by and have a FREE BEER OR APPETIZER at 5 Seasons Brewing... on them!!!! They have never done this before... but they have never needed us to help so much. So please pass this on to all of your friends and have them pass it on to their friends and their friends. Then print it out and go to the "5"!! Thanks again for helping, get in there and enjoy the beer!!
Albert
Albert is with Overeducated Painters. So when you get a chance, call Albert up and thank him for sending this to Amanda, who sent it to me, which I am sharing to all you thousands of folks in our neck of the woods. THIS IS FOR THE PRADO LOCATION @ 5600 ROSWELL RD, SANDY SPRINGS. Click on the 5 Seasons Mug and get your free coupon(s). Remember, as many as you want... take a group there and enjoy. I have been there and I can tell you the food and beverage (beer) are all great! You will never be dissapointed... For more information on 5 Seasons Brewing, please click on This Link for their FLYER

News: NATIONAL NIGHT OUT - AMERICA’ NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME
|
|
On Tuesday, August 5th neighborhoods throughout the county, state and nation are being invited to join forces with Police, nationwide for the “25th ANNUAL NATIONAL NIGHT OUT” (NNO). This is a crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by DeKalb County Police Crime Awareness Units and Interactive Community Policing Units. The event involves over 11,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 35 million people are expected to participate in “Americas Night out against Crime”.
National Night out is designated to (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
From 7pm to 10pm on AUGUST 5th, residents in neighborhoods throughout the county and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with NEIGHBORHOODS and POLICE. Many neighborhoods throughout will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, swim parties, parades, visits from POLICE , flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anticrime rallies.
NORTH PRECINCT has expanded from 12 events in 2006 to over 35 in 2007 and I am sure we will exceed that this year. Use your imagination, be creative and just have some type of gathering as a show of support. You will be getting visits from Police Officers of the North Precinct. This is a great way to get some one on one information time with police officers in your area.
Yes, you can start before 7pm. Just let me know! When your plans are complete please let me know at 404-294-2858 or email is best dkpdcommrel@yahoo.com or alfowler@co.dekalb.ga.us
Thanks, Al Fowler Public Education Specialist DKPD North
